The jury argued its decision to honour the artist, who studied at art academy in Fünen, Denmark and the Städelschule in Frankfurt/Main with the following words:
“Tue Greenfort (*1973) belongs to a younger generation of artists that is approaching ecological themes in a new aesthetic manner. However, the artist is not merely concerned with questions of sustainability, but also with an understanding of ecology as a 'systemic model for social, economic and cultural phenomena and contexts' (Greenfort). He works on this field with subtle associations of content, formal precision, and ironic references to the art of the 1960s and 70s. His works are always site-specific and investigate historical facts as well as chemical and physical processes.
A catalogue will be appearing for the exhibition.
